Parent questions
How do I create a Quran corner at home on a budget?
A Quran corner can be one cushion, one basket and one book. What matters is what the family does there.

You don't need a big house, a designer shelf or a shopping list. A Quran corner can simply be a clean, comfortable place where your family regularly reads and listens.
Start with what you have
Find a quiet spot you already have: one end of the living room, a small shelf, or a basket beside a mat. Keep the mushaf respectfully and safely, away from food and from toddlers who may handle the pages roughly. Add a few things: a trusted storybook, pencils, a reflection notebook, and perhaps a device with downloaded recitation so no ads interrupt.
Let the children help make it theirs with drawings of nature, calligraphy practice or a weekly reflection question. Keep their drawings separate from the Quran text itself. Lights, fragrances and furniture are optional; none of them is a sunnah or a requirement.
Questions go to people, duas go to Allah
Don't make a "mailbox for Allah", or say a note will be delivered to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Try a family "Questions for our teacher" box instead, or a private dua journal where children learn to ask Allah directly. Children too young to write can tell you their thoughts, and you can write them down.
Reminders where the family walks
Some of our most useful Quran corner items were not in a corner at all. We print or write something on a blank piece of paper, laminate it and put it up in the busiest spots of the house. When we move on to a new stage, we make the next one. Our Juz 'Amma poster went up the same way. It doesn't need to be high-tech.
The Quran also comes with us. In December 2020 our Quran and the books we use to look up its words sat on a stool at the beach while the children played.
What happens there
Listen to three verses, talk about one meaning, then make dua. Or go over a short surah your teacher has set. The space has no special spiritual status; what the family does there is what matters.
Try this week
Repurpose one cushion, one basket and one book, and ask your child to help you set it up. Your Quran corner can move, change or disappear when the family needs the space.
